Quality Assurance Accreditation
Cootharinga’s continual improvement is achieved through its focus on quality service provision which has resulted in being accredited by not one, but two quality assurance systems:
- ISO 9001:2008
- and Disability Sector Quality System.
The integration of both systems enabled Cootharinga to streamline its processes, providing an efficient and effective platform from which to operate.
Cootharinga has long recognised the obvious benefits of achieving Quality Assurance. Cootharinga decided to seek Quality Assurance accreditation and the process commenced in late 2000 and subsequently gained accreditation, under ISO 9001:2008, in November 2001. Since that time, Cootharinga has successfully completed two surveillance audits in October 2002 and 2003 and also completed a recertification audit in November 2010, which is current until October 2013.
With the advent of the Disability Services Queensland (DSQ) Disability Sector Quality System (DSQS), Cootharinga was also required to gain accreditation under this system. Cootharinga’s Quality Assurance system was then tailored (with very little modification) to include other aspects which were a requirement of the DSQ Quality System.
Cootharinga arranged for the DSQS audit to be conducted in late August 2005. Cootharinga also decided to undergo the surveillance audit for the ISO system. Cootharinga successfully completed both these audits and gained accreditation under the DSQS and continued accreditation under the ISO system. Cootharinga believes that it was at the time, the second organisation and certainly the first outside of southern Queensland to gain accreditation under the DSQS.
