Cootharinga North Queensland Sharing in $1.3 Million of funding
Cootharinga North Queensland was this week announced as one of the 17 partner organisations sharing in $1.3 million of funding by the annual Glencore Community Program North Queensland (GCPNQ)!
These funds will allow Cootharinga to undertake the Cootharinga Short Term Accommodation Project which involves refurbishing the Cootharinga Community Hub in Mount Isa. The purpose is to provide short term accommodation in Mount Isa for people with disability. The generosity of the Glencore Community Program North Queensland will allow Cootharinga to carpet the upstairs area for noise reduction to combat sensory issues, renovate the bathroom to allow for internal access, install accessible doors and storage spaces, as well as external lighting for safety. The building also requires painting, structural modifications and essential equipment including a shower bed and hoist.
This project will provide emergency and crisis accommodation for people with disability in Mount Isa, and will also support caregivers and families by providing an opportunity for a break from the demands of caring for a person with disability.
Cootharinga would like to sincerely thank the Glencore Community Program North Queensland for their generosity. Your support will allow Cootharinga to assist people living with disability in Mount Isa to achieve the life they want!
