Cootharinga Charity Race Day

Cootharinga's 2009 Charity Race Day, held on 24 October Tatts Cox Plate Day, was again, an exciting and memorable event. The Bonanza Tipping Competition was an outstanding success, with the major prize, a Nissan Micra, thanks to the generosity of Parry Nissan, Townsville. The event was very successful with more than 300 people enjoying a fun filled day at the track in an air conditioned marquee. This was the second Charity Race Day Cootharinga has organized.

To every one's delight, the team that won the car, RE Carruci Plumbing from Cardwell, donated the car back to Cootharinga. Alan Parry, who not only is a great supporter of Cootharinga, but has been a board member for many years when asked about the race day, said: "It was a very very successful day. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and all that I spoke to said it was a top day, very well presented and well done.

My wife, who is a very hard "marker", particularly with Turf Club Functions in Marquees, actually gave the afternoon a "big tick" - so that is a major achievement!!! Alan also said, "The car being donated back, just added to the success, no doubt."

The event was catered for by International students from the Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE, and volunteers, from Townsville Grammar School, James Cook University, Cootharinga Staff, family and friends. Cootharinga would like to take this opportunity to given an enormous thanks to members, and volunteers. Your support and tireless efforts are extremely appreciated.
