Cootharinga Charity Race Day
Cootharinga's 2010 Charity Race Day, being held on Saturday 23 October Tatts Cox Plate Day, is yet again anticipated to be an exciting and memorable event. The highlight of the Cootharinga Charity Race day is our special feature of the Bonanza Tipping Competition, which has proven an outstanding success two years running. All teams compete against each other to vie for the major prize, of a car. The event has proven exceptionally popular in the past with more than 300 people enjoying a fun filled day at the track in an air conditioned marquee. Cootharinga shall be continuing this successful fundraising event for a third year and is looking forward to yet another successful Charity Race Day.
Last year's winners, RE Carruci Plumbing from Cardwell, continued their charitable generosity by donating the major prize of the car back to Cootharinga. Alan Parry, who not only is a great supporter of Cootharinga, but has been a board member for many years when asked about the race day, said: "It was a very very successful day. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and all that I spoke to said it was a top day, very well presented and well done. Feedback from Mr Parry continued with comments that, "My wife, who is a very hard 'marker', particularly with Turf Club Functions in Marquees, actually gave the afternoon a 'big tick' - so that is a major achievement!!!", he also said, "The car being donated back, just added to the success, no doubt."
The event will again be catered by International students from the Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE, and volunteers, from Townsville Grammar School, James Cook University, Cootharinga Staff, family and friends.
