SKILLS & TRANSITION PROGRAM
Cootharinga believes the future belongs to those who create who they want to be!
The Cootharinga Skills & Transition Program and short courses are tailored to assist you to
- Develop new skills
- Explore new experiences and possibilities
- Meet new people
- Live, work and play in your local community!
The Cootharinga Skills & Transition Program provides you with the choice of what you would like to participate in and choose the skills you would like to learn.
This program is focused on the participants learning new skills to live independently or to assist them to transition to employment, volunteer or create connections with community groups.
There is a wide range of courses offered by the Skills and Transition Program which are held in a variety of learning environments which complement the program goals and planned outcomes.
Some courses are instructed by our skilled Support Workers, whilst others are conducted in partnership with other groups or training organisations. At the end of the course, participants may receive a recognised qualification or a certificate of attendance. Some of the courses provided will be free of charge, and others may require a course fee, which we work hard to keep to a minimum.
Support to complete a course
Cootharinga can provide support for you to do a course with your Support Worker or in a group of one Support Worker to three participants. Support can be provided on any day, even Saturday and Sunday. You can claim the costs of support with your NDIS plan under “Increased Social and Community Participation (Support Category 3.09)”. Cootharinga can provide transport to attend the course under the NDIS transport rate.
