Excellence in Workplace Development
Cootharinga’s quest to provide quality services through highly qualified and committed staff has seen us continually strive for better performance. Our focus on providing extensive training for staff was recognised in 2006 when Cootharinga won the Ministers Award for Excellence in Community Services – Creating a Learning Culture and was a finalist for Excellence in Workforce Development. In 2007 Cootharinga was the Award Winner in two categories – Effective Management by a Board of Directors and Sector Recognition – being nominated by a peer organisation for outstanding and leading edge operations.

The Townsville Thuringowa Disability Action Week Awards recognise the outstanding efforts of organisations and individuals in working towards a welcoming community for all. Cootharinga had two award winners - Ross Williams in the Individual category and David Douglass in the housing category who built and designed a disability friendly house.
