30th April 2020

On Sunday, April 26, the Queensland Government announced that some restrictions put in place due to COVID-19 will be reduced as of 11.59pm, Friday 1 May 2020, throughout Queensland.

As of Saturday, you will be able to;

  • Go for a drive;
  • Ride a motorbike, jetski or boat for pleasure;
  • Have a picnic;
  • Visit a national park;
  • Shop for non-essential items;
  • Travel up-to 50km from your home address; and
  • Do these activities with members of your household or you and one other person

All other rules and restrictions are still in place and are to be followed to help in stopping the spread of COVID-19. You can view the current restrictions and latest updates on COVID-19 from the Queensland Government HERE

Cootharinga North Queensland will support you or your family member in getting to and participating in some of these changes where needed. Some activities, such as non-essential shopping, will not be offered as a recreational activity. We will, however, do our best to arrange suitable recreational activities, such as a picnic or a walk outside, where social distancing and good hygiene can be followed.

We take our responsibility seriously in following the current guidelines, to ensure we maintain the health and safety of all of our customers and staff as a top priority and do our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19.

It is great to see some restrictions being lifted. We are hopeful of a positive response allowing for more restrictions to be lifted.

Kind regards,

Matt Kinnane
