Hello to you all,

Over the past month, we have all been caught up in the COVID-19 pandemic. This virus has seen us make major adjustments due to guidelines and limitations being implemented that have impacted our day to day, from our social life, schooling for our children, temporary changes to working our arrangements, how we receive services, even down to how we do our groceries.

These changes will be particularly hard to adjust to during the long weekend. We all need to do our part in continuing to practice social distancing, and only leaving the house for essential items or errands.

I want to personally reach out to all of you and your families during this time, especially in the lead up to the long weekend where many families are facing added pressures.

I want us to not mistake physical distancing for social distancing or complete isolation. We need to ensure our psychological health and well-being during this time through meaningful interactions with family, friends and colleagues.

There are many ways to stay connected over the coming days:

  • If the upcoming long weekend has religious significance for you, check in with your local church to see if they are doing Easter Sunday Service via webcast or if they can recommend a service you can watch online or on your T.V
  • Invite your family and friends to a ‘virtual get together’.
  • Spend quality time with members of your household enjoy a BBQ, playing board games or going for a walk outside where many households are taking part in teddy-bear and Easter themed hunts.
  • If you are spending this time alone, take the time to work on your hobby, learn something new or read that book that has been sitting on your shelf.

If you are finding this time particularly difficult and need some assistance or someone to talk to, you can call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or visit their website www.lifeline.org.au to chat to someone online.

It is ok to not be ok.

We are here to assist you and your family and I encourage all of you to ask for help if needed.

I personally thank all of you for your assistance and cooperation during these time and wish you and your family a happy and safe long weekend.
