NAIDOC Week Art Competition

We are excited to be bringing back CPL Group's NAIDOC Art Competition, bigger and better for a third year.

NAIDOC week celebrates the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The theme for NAIDOC Week 2022 is Get up! Stand up! Show up! calling for all of us to continue to Get up! Stand up! Show Up! for systemic change and keep rallying around our mob, our Elders, our communities.

In acknowledgment of NAIDOC Week 2022 and the many First Nations communities within CPL Group’s service regions, we invite all artists of who are of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage to enter CPL Group’s NAIDOC Art Competition.

Who can enter?

We are looking for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artists of all experience levels to showcase their artwork and start important conversations about their culture and backgrounds. You don’t have to be a member of Cootharinga to submit your artwork, but we would love to see some of our own artists showcase their work! 

Competition Dates

Entries open: Tuesday 3 May 2022
Entries close: Friday 24 June 2022
Winners announced: Winning entries will be announced across CPL Group social media platforms and websites during NAIDOC Week, 3 -10 July 2022

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artists submitting artwork must:
  • be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent;
  • identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander;
  • be an individual aged 10 years or older.

Please note, no group entries (two or more people) will be accepted.

How does it work?

The theme of the artwork needs to reflect the 2022 NAIDOC Week theme: Get up! Stand up! Show up!

Artworks can be of painting, graphic design, or drawing artistic mediums, submitted in one of the two categories: Creative Ability or Up-and-Coming Artist

Entries will need to include 3 images of the artwork (At least two (2) clear close-up photos of the artwork and one (1) photo of the artist with their artwork.) and a short description about the artwork and how it represents to 2022 NAIDOC Week theme: Get up! Stand up! Show up!

Creative Ability: For artists who are new to their craft and are at a beginner level

  • 1st Place: $350 VISA Gift Card
  • Runner up:  $150 VISA Gift Card

Up-and-Coming Artist: For artists who are skilled in their craft and are at an intermediate level or above

  • 1st Place: $2500 cash
  • 2nd Place: $1500 cash

How do I enter?

Entries are open now and will close on 24 June 2022 at 5 pm.
